Clay PAL offers recreational baseball for ages 4-18 in both the spring and fall. Our spring season runs February through May and our fall season runs September through November. Clay PAL is a member of District 4 of the Florida Babe Ruth League. Recreational baseball is all about kids having fun and learning to play baseball. The goals are teaching baseball fundamentals, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Competition is a healthy part of recreational baseball, but the focus is on developing players in a positive environment. For players interested in more competitive levels of play, Clay PAL also offers Advanced Baseball and All-Star programs (any recreational player may try out). Practices are held at Walter Odum Park and Lake Asbury area schools and home games are held at our home field, Walter Odum Park. Clay PAL baseball teams also play against opponents from other local area leagues.
The divisions are based on the League Age as well as skill level of a child. The League Age is the age your child will be on May 1 of the current year.
The T-Ball division is for kids that are league age 4-6 playing for the first time or still learning the fundamentals of how to hit, throw, and run the bases the correct way.
Rookie Division (8U)
The Rookie division is for kids that are league age 7-8 playing for the first time or returning to play on a full baseball field, hitting from a 40mph pitch machine with 4 pitches giving strike outs / no walks, no base stealing, and scoring runs.
Minors Division (10U)
The Minors division is for kids that are league age 9-10 that is kid-pitch, strike outs & walks, and closed bases with stealing on a 46’ pitching mound and 60’ bases on the field.
Majors Division (12U)
The Majors division is for kids that are league age 11-12 that is kid-pitch with full baseball rules with open bases, 50’ pitching mound and 70’ bases on the field.
Babe Ruth Divisions (15U/18U)
The 15U and 18U divisions are for kids that are league age 13-18. These divisions are kid-pitch with full baseball rules with open bases, 60’ pitching mound and 90’ bases on the field.
