Police Athletic League of Clay County, Inc. ("Clay PAL") programs are open to residents of Clay County, Florida. Clay PAL is a member of the newest and most exciting league in Northeast Florida, the North Florida Youth Football and Cheer Conference ("NFYFC" and "NFYCC").
Other member associations of NFYFC/NFYCC are local to Clay PAL and include Oakleaf, Middleburg, Orange Park (OPAA), Fleming Island Athletic Association, Callahan, Jacksonville PAL, Ponte Vedra, Fernandina Beach, Bartram Trail, Hilliard, Creeks, Villages, Hastings, Clay Chargers and University Christian.
The Clay PAL Cheer Program will be open to children league age 4-14 for the 2024 season. Please note that your child's "league age" for purposes of division placement is based on the age they will be on July 31, 2024. Participants will be assigned to teams based on age, skill level, enrollment numbers. Team placement is at the sole discretion of Clay PAL Management.
Our program is instructional, competitive and FUN!! We offer a COMBINED sideline and competition program for the fall. Cheerleaders will learn chants and cheers to perform on the sidelines of our youth football games and participate in Homecoming activities, while learning how to be spirit leaders and supporters for our Clay PAL Guardians teams. Cheerleaders will also learn a full competition routine and will compete at one or more competitions. We also may offer exhibition opportunities for our cheerleaders, which may include participating in parades, performing in half-time shows at local venues, etc. although these are not guaranteed to be scheduled within the season.
The fall season will begin in July and could run into early December depending when competitions are scheduled.
Games are held on Saturdays. Our home games are usually held at Walter Odum Park (470 Woodside Drive, Orange Park, FL) however our park will likely be closed this season for renovations so we will have our home games at another location in Clay County. Away games will involve some travel to the other NFYFC member associations listed above. Parents are responsible for providing all transportation to and from practices and games. The plan is to have some outdoor practices early in the season and then cheer practices will move to the gymnasium at Centerpoint Baptist Church (1650 Blanding Blvd, Middleburg) for the remainder of the season.
Cheerleading is a team sport that requires FULL participation from everyone. Each squad has limited time to practice and prepare a full competition routine, and therefore extensive absences are a safety hazard for your child and their teammates and could result in removal from the routine. If your cheerleader is absent, there is a large number of children who CANNOT practice their stunts, pyramids, and formations so your child's absence truly affects everyone.
The registration fee for the 2024 Cheer Season is $250.00 per cheerleader. In order to avoid an increase in overall registration fees this season, we are no longer offering a sibling discount for cheer. All fees must be paid IN FULL before uniforms are ordered in late June or your child will be dropped from the squad and a uniform will not be ordered unless there are special circumstances discussed and approved by Clay PAL Management. If your family is experiencing an economic hardship, please contact Clay PAL Coordinator, Deputy Robert Russell, to apply for financial assistance.
Each cheerleader will receive a full uniform for sideline and competitions (including bow and shoes) as well as a practice outfit that they will get to keep at the end of the season. Other items are available to purchase at an additional cost.
**NOTE: No refunds will be issued once uniform orders have been placed. Your child will not receive a uniform if they come off the roster before uniforms are issued.
Participation in fundraising will be mandatory in order to raise money for competition fees, choreography, music, trainings, and other items not covered by the registration fees.
A Medical Clearance Form is required for all participants prior to the start of the season. The form must be dated in the calendar year of 2024 and must be signed by a medical professional (MD, DO, PA or ARNP). The Medical Clearance Form is below for parents to print and present to their provider.
AT THIS TIME, OUR SPRING COMPETITION TEAMS ARE ONLY OPEN TO CHEERLEADERS WHO PARTICIPATE IN OUR FALL SEASON.
