Clay PAL has joined the newest and most exciting tackle football league in Northeast Florida, North Florida Youth Football Conference ("NFYFC") for the 2019 season. Our program is open to all children who live in Clay County, ages 5-12 (and 13-year-olds who weigh 100 lbs or less).
NFYFC is a proud member of the Amateur Athletic Union ("AAU") which is the largest national sports organization that has been around since 1888 and provides not only football and cheer, but many other youth and amateur sport programs. By blending together different aspects of youth football programs across the United States, NFYFC sets out on a mission to create a safe, fun, and competitive environment for today's youth to play tackle football. Focusing on the safety of our youth, NFYFC uses a combination of age based, unlimited weight football, coupled with an "older but lighter" special category to fit the needs of any player, regardless of their size or capability. NFYFC age divisions are listed at the bottom of this page for your reference.
Other member associations of NFYFC include Oakleaf, Middleburg, Orange Park (OPAA), Callahan, Jax PAL, Ponte Vedra and Fernandina Beach.
The regular conference season officially begins on August 3, 2019 and will run through mid-October (possibly to late October if teams qualify for playoffs and championships). For teams that excel during the season, there may be some opportunity for post-season play outside of the conference which could extend into November/December.
Games are held on Saturdays. Our home field for games is Walter Odum Park (445 Woodside Drive, Orange Park) and our away games do involve some travel to the other NFYFC member associations listed above. Parents are responsible for providing all transportation.
Clay PAL football teams practice at Ronnie Van Zant Park (on Sandridge Rd. in the Lake Asbury area of Green Cove Springs). Prior to Labor Day, the teams will practice 4-5 nights per week (no more than 10 hours per week), and after Labor Day they will practice 2-3 nights per week (no more than 6 hours per week).
The cost for tackle football is $200, or $175 if you register on or before June 1, 2019. A $75 deposit is required for those who register on or before June 1, 2019 and a $100 deposit is required for those who register after that time. The balance of all fees must be paid IN FULL on or before July 15, 2019 or your child will be dropped from the roster. Additional siblings from the same household are offered a $25 discount after the first child is registered at full price.
The registration fee covers the player's game-day uniform package, which each player gets to keep at the end of the season. The uniform package includes the personalized jersey, integrated football pants, socks and compression shirt. Helmets and shoulder pads will be loaned to each player and must be returned at the end of the season. Each player must purchase their own mouthpiece, cleats, compression shorts/cup, and practice pants/jersey. If your family is experiencing economic hardship, please contact us to apply for financial assistance.

Below are the divisions offered by NFYFC. Please note that your player's "League Age" for purposes of division placement is based on the age they will be on July 31st of the current year.
All 5 and 6 year olds, regardless of their weight
Any 7 year old who is 45 lbs or less at the start of the season*
All 7 and 8 year olds, regardless of their weight
Any 9 year old who is 60 lbs or less at the start of the season*
All 9 and 10 year olds, regardless of their weight
Any 11 year old who is 70 lbs or less at the start of the season*
All 11 and 12 year olds, regardless of their weight
Any 13 year old who is 100 lbs or less at the start of the season*
*These optional older-but-lighter categories are designed for the very smallest participants who may opt to play in the lower division. These participants must weigh-in at the start of the season, and the league retains the right to weigh them throughout the season to verify that their weight remains in accordance with the NFYFC rules (may gain no more than one pound per game week). These older-but-lighter participants are not eligible to participate beyond the regular conference playoff season, and parents will be required to sign an acknowledgement form prior to participation to confirm they have been informed that their child will not be able to continue in post-season play. If you would like for your child to have an opportunity to participate in any possible post-season tournaments you should register them for their appropriate age division.
